Dwarf spreading perennial with spikes of purple-blue flowers during most of the summer. The grey-green leaves are highly aromatic.
Uses
can be infused as a calming tea as a gentle treatment for sleeplessness, anxiety, colds, flu and headaches. Leaves can also be added to salads.
very attractive to bees and is traditionally plated as a companion plant underneath roses and forms a useful, attractive, drought tolerant ground cover.
Growing conditions
Plant in full sun to partial shade. It tolerates a variety of soil textures provided they are well draining. Once established, catmint is drought tolerant.
