Flat sheets are the large sheets used in hotels. Many retailers sell top sheets as flat sheets but top sheets are often too small, especially on modern mattresses. If you don't use fitted sheets, flat sheets are for you. Flat sheets are cut longer and wider so tuck all the way around. Hence the price difference, there's much more cloth!
