What Happened That Day - The Kiwi Kids' Bookstore

The track you’re on can change overnight, as Vinni discovers. Finding a BMX bike stashed in the bush near his home is just the beginning of a rough ride, full of tricks and turns, for Vinni and his family.

Vinni has just started at a new school. His teacher asks him to write about an important day in his life so she can get to know more about Vinni and his writing skills. Vinni explains: “It’s easy to work out what day to write about. It only happened a couple of weeks ago. That was the day when I found the bike. And it was the same day that Mum told me she was leaving. Since then, those two things have got so tangled up together you wouldn’t believe it."

Vinni begins to write but once he’s started, he decides he wants to tell the whole story, how one thing led to another and another, and everything changed. What happened that day is just the beginning.
