Guided Goat Pass & Waimakariri Gorge Trips
Join our talented Topsport Kayaking and Running guides for two days of invaluable training out on the Kathmandu Coast to Coast course training. Take a trip with our running guides over the famous Goat Pass Mountain Run route and then be guided down the Waimakariri River with our kayaking team. Coast to Coast training doesn’t get any better than this.

Day One
Guided Goat Pass Mountain Run
Day One is a trip over Goat Pass. Our trips start at the Otira Foot Bridge – the start of the Coast to Coast run section and we take you through to the Bealey River. Please note we don’t run the final approx 3kms through to Klondyke Corner. This trip is approximately 27kms and includes 900 meters of climbing. This is a full day trip departing from Christchurch at 6am and returning at the end of the day. Return transport from Christchurch is included.
Day Two
Guided Waimakariri Gorge Trip
Day Two is a trip down the Waimakariri Gorge to Woodstock. This is a 55km paddle and will be approximately 5 to 6 hours of paddling. This trip includes the famous Rock Garden section of the river and the mighty Gorge. This is a full day trip departing from Christchurch at 6.30am and returning at the end of the day. If you are travelling from outside of Christchurch to spend some time with us on the river or over the mountain here is some information to help plan you trip.

Kayaking: These requirements are in place for your safety and to ensure we can fit you in one of our boats (if required)
- You must be able to swim
- Be training most days and have a good base fitness
- Weigh less than 110kg
- Be shorter than 6'4.
Goat Pass: These requirements are in place for your safety
- You must be able to swim
- Be training most days and have a good base fitness
- To complete this trip it is highly recommended that you have a body capable to run 20-25km and that you have done some training off road trail running and have found a local spot to practice some rock hopping.
