For most riders doing structured training, RL-1 will do the job. If you care about left/right balance, detailed data, or you just want the full setup from day one, get RL-2 and be done with it.

What is the difference between Favero Assioma PRO RL-1 and RL-2?

The RL-1 is single-sided, with the power sensor in the left pedal only. It calculates total power by doubling left-leg output. The RL-2 is dual-sided, with power sensors in both pedals, and provides L/R balance insights. Are Assioma PRO RL pedals compatible with Look Keo cleats?

Yes. Both PRO RL models are 100% compatible with Look Keo, and also lists compatibility with Look Keo Grip and Favero’s own Look-compatible cleats. Is RL-1 enough for training?

For many riders, yes. RL-1 still gives you power and cadence data, plus several advanced metrics, and is usually enough for pacing, structured training, and general performance tracking. What you give up is full dual-sided measurement and L/R balance from both pedals. The first part is an inference; the sensor and metric differences come from Favero’s published specs. They use ANT and Bluetooth, so they are designed to work with a wide range of bike computers and training apps that support those standards. Now two years after Favero started their Pro lineup of power meters, they’ve completed the cleat type rollout, by announcing their Assioma Pro RL power meter pedal, with Look-compatible cleats. This follows the PRO MX (off-road SPD) in 2024, then the PRO RS (road Shimano SPD-SL) in 2025, and now the PRO RL (Look-compatible) here in 2026.

All three pedals share an identical power meter spindle internally, and you can swap pedal body types between the different spindles. Meaning, you can move the internal spindle pretty easily from an RL/RS pedal body for road usage in the summer, to being an SPD pedal for winter off-road usage. As always with pedal spindle swaps, the procedure is not really designed for daily switching, but for infrequent switching.
