A newborn curls inside a luminous orb, watched over by a great face above — serene, eyes closed, a quiet guardian. A carved pou descends through the centre of the composition, connecting atua to earth, ancestor to new life. The colours are deep — forest greens and charcoal — with the moon-white circle at the heart of it all.

Theresa Reihana is a mother of six, and the tenderness she brings to the subject of new life and intergenerational connection runs through every detail of this piece.
