Metro Ambie Bench
Wood Fire – Bench Top Installation
Take your wood fire to a new level of refinement with the Metro Ambience Series. These innovative models can now be installed directly onto a non-combustible bench , without the need for a pedestal base.
This elevated design not only enhances the viewing experience of the fire , but also makes refuelling and cleaning the firebox easier than ever. The bench installation creates a sleek, modern fireplace look , while also providing a practical space for storing firewood neatly beneath the fire. Options
Metro offer two purpose-built Ambie Benches , designed specifically for the Ambience Series. These benches are lightweight, ready-made, and feature pre-cut fixing points for quick, hassle-free installation. The bench-top style creates a contemporary, furniture-like finish that blends perfectly into modern New Zealand homes. Tested & Approved to Standards
Ambience models tested and approved to AS/NZS 2918 with a 2.4m ceiling ( /-0.1m) when fitted with a Pioneer double flue shield.
Bench installations require a minimum 2.7m ceiling height.
A 10mm rear clearance to a combustible wall is required, or the bench can be positioned against a standard skirting board.
Bench installations adjust tested clearances (A) and (H) and alter wetback connection heights.
All other tested clearances remain unchanged, including minimum floor protector requirements. Flexible Installation Options
Bench-top installation may be possible with 2.4m ceilings , though it limits the maximum bench height beneath the fire.
Height can be increased using a larger ceiling plate/shield or installing into homes with higher ceilings to meet required clearances.
AS/NZS 2918 allows for clearance reductions (see Section 3, Tables 3.1 & 3.2).
