HH Allan was New Zealand’s foremost botanist in the mid-twentieth century. These species are named after him: Pertusaria allanii, Pseudocuphellaria allanii, Lembergia allanii, Frullania allanii, Gelidium allanii, Carex allanii, Chenopodium allanii, Celmisia allanii, Caloplaca allanii and Azorella allanii.
