Athene Sweater Knitting Pattern - PetiteKnit
The Athene Sweater is worked from the top down with a colorwork pattern.
The top section of the yoke is worked in one solid colour. The colorwork section can be worked in the round with steeks at the armholes (to be cut open later), or back and forth to avoid steeking.
First, the upper back yoke is worked flat while short rows shape the shoulders. Each shoulder is then worked separately and joined to form the front yoke. The body is joined in the round and worked in colorwork with steek stitches cast on at each side. After the armholes are completed and steeked, the body continues in the round and is finished with a ribbed hem.
Sleeves are worked in the round from stitches picked up along the armholes after steeking. The folded neck edge is worked at the end.
When working colorwork, you may need to use ½–1 needle size larger than for stockinette to maintain gauge. It is recommended to swatch both stockinette and colorwork before beginning.
The sweater is designed to have approx. 20 cm of positive ease in the smaller sizes, gradually decreasing in the larger sizes.
