Wilfred's Sweater
Wilfred’s Sweater is a classic children’s jumper with a timeless shape and a practical buttoned shoulder detail, making it easy to pull on and off for little ones. The design works beautifully as a single colour or with simple stripes, depending on the look you’re after.
The sweater is worked from the bottom up. The body is knitted in the round first, before the front and back are separated and worked flat. Stitches are then picked up to form a neat ribbed neckline. Sleeves are worked last, picked up around the armholes and knitted in the round for a clean, comfortable finish.
This is a thoughtful, well-constructed garment that wears well, washes well, and is ideal for everyday use.

This pattern is designed for a light DK / heavy 4-ply yarn with good stitch definition and durability. Ideal yarn characteristics:
Smooth or lightly woollen-spun
Soft enough for children’s skin, but not overly fluffy
Good elasticity and memory
Suitable for frequent wear and washing
This is not a chunky or worsted-weight pattern — finer yarns give the sweater its clean structure and comfortable fit. Yarn Quantity & Metreage
