Why this wine is worth your attention
This is exactly the kind of deal that matters: not cheap wine pretending to be premium, but premium-intent wine suddenly available at clearance-level pricing for reasons unrelated to quality.
Sea Cove 2024 delivers everything people want from excellent Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc:
- intense aromatics
- passionfruit and citrus drive
- makrut lime freshness
- orange blossom lift
- herbal detail
- a clean, zippy, mineral line It’s energetic, refreshing and dangerously easy to enjoy.
Tasting note
Bright, aromatic and classically Marlborough.
Expect lifted notes of makrut lime, tropical passionfruit, citrus, orange blossom and fresh herbs, followed by a palate that is crisp, refreshing and linear, with zippy citrus energy and a stony mineral edge. This is the kind of Sauvignon Blanc that works just as well as a first glass as it does at the table.
Why it overdelivers
This wine comes from Sugar Loaf Winery, a 26-hectare estate in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, working from old, gravelly riverbed soils and taking a long-term, light-touch approach to farming. The vineyards and winery are certified through Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel at low temperatures of 12–14°C to preserve freshness and aromatic intensity.
So yes, the price is low. But the wine is not.
Food match
Perfect with:
- fresh fish
- shellfish
- prawns
- grilled white meats
- summer salads
- goat’s cheese
- or simply cold from the fridge on its own The technical sheet specifically calls out fish, shellfish and white meat, and that fits the wine perfectly.
