Cartier Tank Basculante Ref. 2386 1990s w/ Service Papers
The Cartier Tank Basculante made its debut in 1933, drawing inspiration from the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, a remarkable dual-sided sports timepiece designed to swivel within its case, safeguarding its dial. Staying true to this innovative concept, the Basculante also featured a swivelling mechanism within its case to protect its dial. However, it differed from the Reverso in that it rotated on its vertical axis, enabling it to stand upright during rotation and function as a table clock when desired.
This example of the Tank Basculante from the 1990s is in excellent condition. It the smaller of the two sizes within this neo-vintage era it is extremely wearable as an everyday watch or special occasion piece. Having completed a full Cartier service in 2024 it is ready for its next home.
