Houses for Servicemen - historically important housing plans for returning war heros
These are special - attractive and historically important!
Here we have an important and rare record of life at the end of World War Two for our heros, returning home, battle hardened, but no doubt exhausted, landing at last on New Zealand shores and having to contemplate what next in life.
Not everything was as welcoming for our soldiers as this lovely gift of an amazing variety of fully developed and brilliant specimen housing designs produced by the New Zealand Institute of Architects, which came along with the offer of a variety of permit and construction support services for our war hero's.
You can still see houses built using these plans throughout our towns and cities today. You may even own one yourself!
This amazing set of A3 sized (420mm x300mm) prints contains a set of 48 plans of the amazing hand coloured, specimen designs along with prints describing the generous offer to our servicemen to get them back on their feet.
A3 landscape format, coloured drawings printed on card, all unframed.
VG condition.
Ask about the specific plans that appeal most to you, or please pop in to see them face to face.
$46 per print.
We have other related memorabilia - a full A4 landscape booklet of the plans as originally issued by NZIA, and an soft back, unframed A2 sized poster too.
