Important historical documents representing a snap shot of New Zealand industrial history...

If you are a collector of New Zealand industrial heritage then this is for you.

This is a fascinating little collection of rare business memorabilia from a very different era in New Zealand history!

R & E Tingey and Company was formed by twin brothers, Richard and Edward as a painting and decorating business based in Whanganui in 1869. The business quickly grew as specialists in paint, wallpaper and glass, and was incorporated in 1904, with the head office located in Wellington. In 1972 the company merged with Odlins Ltd, continuing under the name Tingey's Ltd until 1985 when Odlins Ltd was acquired by Winstone Ltd and Tingey's ceased to operate.

In this eclectic set of historical documents we have a black and white photo of the Tingey's factory; several insurance policies dating from the 1920's through to the 1940's; beautifully hand drafted and executed deeds and indentures from as early as 1914, including fascinating apprenticeship contracts; and hand written invoices from as early as 1881.

Several of the indentures and insurance policies fold out to a large circa A2 size ideal for framing.

There are eighteen documents in the set.
