Rare athletics memorabilia from Peter Snell's world Mile record in 1964!
This is a unique and important rare treasure. In 1964 Peter Snell shattered the world Mile record at Western Springs stadium, Auckland. Here we have the original photo finish record of that amazing achievement by the iconic athlete. Photo finish technology was introduced to athletics by Max Cooper after its pioneering days in horse racing in the late 1950's.
Together with the original OMEGA b&w photofinish record (complete with Snell's finish line time) we have an interesting copy of a newspaper article on the award of merit given to Max Cooper recognising his pioneering impacts with photo finish technology.
The photo itself measures 214mm by 164mm, and is inscribed to the rear with details of the world record and the photofinish operations team.
Provenance - offered for sale by a close friend of Max Cooper.
The photo is in G condition, some creasing and marks, but image very clear.
A really special and valuable piece of sporting history!
