The Early Canterbury Runs, first edition with fold out map

 

This stunning book originated as a series of newspaper cuttings published in The Press (Christchurch, N.Z.) between 1924 and 1927. Acland compiled these articles into book form due to public interest. The work is highly valued for its detailed, authoritative accounts of approximately 170 individual sheep runs (stations) and the lives of their early runholders in the Canterbury region.

First edition, published by Whitcombe and Tombs Ltd, 1930. Hard cover, gilt lettering, 279pp. 220mm by 145mm.
