2023, Domaine d'Eugénie, BONNES-MARES, Grand Cru
From a.24 ha (ex Bouchard which also Artemis owned) mix of two-thirds terres rouges and one-third terres blanches, though at present it is 100% terres rouges due to a replanting; 80% whole cluster.
The debut 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru comes from a parcel located on the Morey side of the appellation around 250 meters from its sibling, Clos de Tart. The vines are now being trellised a little higher, with different pruning and lower yields than would have been done when it was Bouchard Père. This offers a mixture of mainly blackberries mixed with blueberries and touches of iris flower, the 80% whole bunch poking out a little more than the other Grand Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very well balanced and pure, showing hints of cassis toward the finish. Very elegant in style, this is a very commendable debut that should age with style. 2028 - 2046

The first vintage of Bonnes Mares at Domaine d’Eugénie, has been made with 80% whole bunch vinification and two new barrels in four. A glowing purple. The bouquet is very exciting, whole bunches of course but a deeply expressive red fruit, ripe cherry, dances on the palate, not too much of the Morey-side wildness, but a very complete whole. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Nov 2024.
94-97 Jasper Morris MW.
A slightly riper nose reflects liqueur-like notes of black cherry, cassis and violet. There is both excellent volume and power to the large-bodied flavours that offer fine richness as well as a sappy texture that carries over to the long and firm if noticeably warm finale.
