2021, Domaine Ponsot, CORTON, 'Bressandes', Grand Cru

The 2021 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has a generous bouquet with high-toned red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, like its fellow Corton, evincing joie-de-vivre. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, more flesh and density here with lip-smacking sapidity in the short but effective finish. Very fine. 92-94 Neal Martin, Vinous (2022).

The 2021 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru opens in the glass with aromas of plums, spices, orange zest and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's broad and textural, with an enveloping core of fruit, supple tannins and a long, saline finish. This is an especially supple, giving, front-loaded Bressandes that will show well young. 92-94 William Kelley, Wine Advocate (2023).

One barrel as always. A vivid fresh purple. A bit more gourmand, rounded black fruit. Does not quite fill out of the heart of the palate but the finish is certainly better. A darker fruit which covers any tannins that there may be, and less evident acidity. Good persistence. Promising. 90-93 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (2022).
