2024, Domaine de la Vougeraie, PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, 1er Cru, 'Champs Gains'
Champ Gain is high up the slope on very free draining clay and limestone and facing southeast. Vougeraie have 0.3217 of a hectare.
A full crop. Mid lemon yellow, a little oak evident on the nose, alongside the waxed and candied lemon skin nose. Much more linear than the Chassagne with adequate fruit concentration, and some acidity to finish. Good length too. Drink from 2028-2034.

The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru offers yellow plum and light scents of pressed white flowers on the nose that unfold in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, not terribly complex at this stage but I appreciate the spiciness that comes through on the finish. Fine.

Extra density of white-fleshed fruit and perfume. A more sparkly complexity of this flavour, narrowing, with intensity and small citrus bitters. Very long – what a super wine…
