Japanese Cedar Wood Oval Tray
Magewappa is a traditional craft from Odate in Japan’s Akita Prefecture, with a history of around 2,000 years. Made from locally sourced Japanese cedar, it has been produced using the same time-honoured methods with very little change over centuries.
It can be used directly for serving food or paired with other tableware, making it easy to blend into a variety of table settings.
We often use it for breakfast bread, roasted vegetables, afternoon tea snacks, fruit, or alongside matcha bowls, teapots, and Japanese sweets, creating a slower and more calming atmosphere around tea and matcha moments. Beyond the table, it also works beautifully for displaying candles, incense, small flower arrangements, or everyday objects, bringing a natural warmth into the home.
Pairs well with the Japanese handcrafted matcha bowl shown in the photo.
