Formosa Oolong Gaba

A truly distinctive oolong from Taiwan — historically known as Formosa, "the beautiful island," and long revered for the artistry of its oolong-making tradition. What sets this tea apart is its process: rather than being oxidised in open air, the leaves rest in a nitrogen-rich, oxygen-free environment. This unusual method naturally develops elevated levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a compound long associated with calm and relaxation.

A quiet, contemplative cup — well-suited to slow evenings, a Gong Fu session, or any moment that asks for stillness rather than stimulation. Beautifully re-steepable, the leaves reveal something new with every infusion.

The liquor pours a warm honeyed amber, releasing an aroma reminiscent of stone fruit and toffee. On the palate, ripe fruit notes lead — apricot, dried plum — softened by a mellow caramel sweetness and a smooth, lingering finish. Deeply satisfying, and remarkably unlike any other oolong.
