Benromach 'High Enzyme Barley' 2012 / 12 years old 46%
The Benromach distillery is known for its experimental releases, focusing on a specific and quite technical aspect of whisky making. This new 2012 vintage was created from a high enzyme barley varietal that is not commonly used to make single malt whisky, resulting in a lighter spirit profile that is more floral and aromatic. Overall there's lots of juicy fresh apple, citrus and pineapple, with honeycomb waxyness and a cooling menthol note from the wood.
